Review Jumper EZbook X3 Budget Windows Laptop

hey everybody it’s lon simon and it’s been a while since we’ve taken a look at one of these low-cost chinese laptops and i got one in the other day from the amazon vine program this is the jumper easy book x3 and this is one of these computers that looks nicer in pictures than it looks like in person and we’re going to be stepping through what it’s all about here in just a second but i do want to let you know in the interest of full disclosure this came in free of charge through the amazon vine program however all the opinions you’re about to hear are my own no one is paying for this review nor has anyone reviewed or approved what you’re about to see before it was uploaded so let’s get into it now and see what this laptop is all about now the price point on this one is 249 a couple of years ago this might have been a good deal but today i’m seeing a lot of name brand manufacturers offer similar laptops for around the price of this one and one of the issues you run into with something like this from jumper is that you’re probably not going to get long-term support they build out the lowest price laptop they can and if it breaks a year or two down the road you might be stuck with nothing so just be aware of that and buy at your own risk now this one has an older processor an n3350 pentium chip that’s an apollo lake processor as a result it is fanless so it doesn’t make any noise when it’s on but as you’ll see in a few minutes the performance on this is not great it’s got four gigabytes of ram ddr3 that’s configured in single channel configuration which means that you’re also going to see a bit of a performance hit graphically because of how they’ve configured the ram and unfortunately the ram is not upgradable on this it is soldered onto the motherboard it has 64 gigabytes of emmc storage but it also has an msata

slot here at the bottom so you can undo this little door here and use one of those half size m2 sata drives to expand out the storage if you want but it does have 64 gigabytes built in the display is a 13 inch display running at 1080p it’s probably the nicest part of this laptop it’s ips it’s got decent viewing angles not you know really bright but bright enough i think for the price point it doesn’t look bad although it is a bit on the colder side for its color temperature the overall weight of the laptop is 3.07 pounds or 1.39 kilograms the build quality for a jumper actually is not bad the display will flop around a bit here as you can see but it does feel a little bit better put together than prior versions of their laptops but it is all plastic the keyboard and track pad are not terrific on this the keyboard does have really good travel some really deep travel to the keys here but i found it not to be the most comfortable typing surface the keyboard is not backlit the worst part about the laptop is the trackpad it doesn’t have much of an area where you can click so if you’re up here even at the middle you can’t click down on it at all and then if you click in the middle sometimes you can’t click because there is a left button and a right button here depending on which side of the trackpad you’re on so from a quality standpoint this trackpad is pretty bad and that’s one thing that i noticed right away and jake who helps me review these laptops also noticed right away there’s also a shortage of ports on this one so we do have a headphone jack here you have a usb 3 port over here you’ve got a micro sd card slot right there so you can augment its onboard storage in two different ways on the other side here we’ve got a hdmi output so you can use one of those mini hdmi adapters

there to get it out to a an external display you’ve got another usb 3 port here and then your power goes in there but there is no usb type-c on this device now on the laptop’s product page on amazon jumper was actually pretty honest they say you’re looking at about six hours of battery life i would say that’s probably accurate although you might get closer to seven if you keep the brightness down and stick to the basics like web browsing and word processing and that sort of thing game playing of course will eat into the battery a little bit more but i think you can get a little bit more than advertised out of its battery if you keep your activities down the webcam here at the top is nothing to be excited about just a 720p murky kind of webcam as you can see nothing great but it is good enough for doing zoom and other kinds of video conferencing as weak as the processor is on here it actually does okay with video encoding and decoding that you would do on zoom or google meet or another platform so doing the basic kind of web conferencing e-learning and whatnot i shouldn’t be too bad of a deal on here so what we’re going to do now is take a look at how this performs we’ll begin with some web browsing and then take a look at a few games all right so let’s connect up to nasa’s home page here and see how well it can load the page again this is not going to be the fastest laptop out there it’s certainly going to feel a bit sluggish especially compared to some of the other laptops we’ve looked at here on the channel recently i have this connected up to my 5 gigahertz wi-fi i’m not sure if this supports wireless ac or not it wasn’t clear from the product specs if that was something it did support but from a performance standpoint doing some basic browsing it feels about what i would expect out of one of these lower cost devices running with an older intel apollo lake processor so not bad i just don’t expect all that much out of it now we also took a look at my youtube

channel with a 1080p 60 frames per second video i did get a bunch of drop frames at the outset and then it kind of settled down and was able to play back the video just fine so i think it should probably be sufficient for netflix and youtube and everything but you might see a few drop frames here and there and on the speedometer test running in google chrome we got a score of 34.6 on version 1.0 of that test and 20.81 on version 2.0 that puts this really at the bottom of the performance pile for low-cost laptops that we’ve looked at recently and again that’s due to the fact that we’ve got an older apollo lake processor on here with its memory running in single channel mode it didn’t do much better with games either let’s take a look at a few so we’re going to kick things off here with rocket league 720p lowest settings sometimes you can coax an apollo lake processor into running at around 30 or so here we’re getting about half that we’re kind of bursting to 18 frames per second every once in a while but the average here is looking to be about 15 or so not playable uh we also took a look at shovel knight and this is a game that usually runs at 1080p at a nice clip on these little laptops this time not so much we’re getting about 35 frames per second this game likes to run at 60 otherwise it feels really slow as you can see here so that was a disappointment even an older game

like half-life 2 here at the lowest setting 720p is pushing maybe 30 or 40 frames per second really not doing all that well and again this is due to the fact that this laptop has an older processor and given the ram is in single channel configuration its little gpu just isn’t able to keep up with the demands of even older games so as a result if you have a gamer that you’re looking at this for it’s probably not going to be something i’m going to recommend everything is going to struggle on it and on the 3dmark cloud gate benchmark test we got a score of 1329 that puts it below laptops that we’re selling at this price four years ago namely the hp stream 11 which had a more modern processor than we’ve got in this new one here so again overall this is just not going to be something that i would recommend to the gamers out there and on the 3d mark stress test we got a failing grade of 73.9 this is one of the lowest scores that we’ve ever gotten on the stress test by the way this means that there will be a good amount of thermal throttling here on the laptop the more it is placed under heavy consistent load now normally i would boot up ubuntu right now and see how this thing works with linux and usually these apollo lake devices can run linux just fine but this one only gives you a blank screen so unfortunately this is not going to be something that might be a fun little linux device it seems to run windows just fine just not anything else and i think at its price point it doesn’t feel like all that great of a deal to me it’s got a much older processor the display is nice but the trackpad is pretty lousy on it and overall it just feels like there are better options out there for the same price

or maybe just a little bit more from a name brand manufacturer if we were back in the early days of the pandemic and there were no laptops to be found and this was the only one that was out there at its price point i’d say yeah go for it if there’s nothing else to choose from but now that i think stock is getting replenished out there there are better options than this one so in my estimation here only buy this if you are desperate there are definitely better options out there for just a little bit more money or even the same price that’s going to do it for now until next time this is lon simon thanks for watching this channel is brought to you by the lawn dot tv supporters including gold level supporters tom albrecht chris allegretta mike patterson and bill pomerantz if you want to help the channel you can by contributing as little as a dollar a month head over to lawn dot tv support to learn more and don’t forget to subscribe
